This ivory sander is probably an early example of a travellers writing equipment item. It is just under 4" long and 1/2" wide at the base and is made up of three parts. The lower part would have contained the pounce or sand which would have been shaken into the upper part which has 5 large holes typical of a sander. A screw cap fits neatly on top of the hole part of the sander. This is rare piece of ivory writing equipment and is in excellent condition. Price on application.
